Our Story

An oculus allows light to flood a building, and we do the same within the organisations we support.
The idea for Oculus HR came to our Founder, Louise, back in January 2013, during a trip to Rome to celebrate her husband’s birthday. Amid the bustling streets and ancient architecture, they found themselves at the Pantheon, gazing up at its iconic dome. The sunlight poured through a circular opening at the top, casting a warm glow into the space below.
As they stood there, inspired by the beauty she shared her dream of one day founding her own HR consultancy. Louise’s husband encouraged her to take the leap, and as they looked up at the oculus, a feature designed to bring light into the building, they realised how fitting it was as a metaphor!
The oculus represented clarity, focus, and illumination, all qualities that Louise wanted to bring to the organisations she’d support through her business. It felt like the perfect name, symbolising the way her team would shine a light on challenges, providing the guidance and support that businesses need to grow and succeed.
By the time they’d returned home, the vision for Oculus HR had begun to take shape. A decade later, that moment in Rome remains a reminder of why we do what we do: bring a fresh perspective to your HR challenges.
